Sibylle
Tade-Meinesz was born on July 10, 1944 in Ebenrode, now Russia. She now lives in Germany
with her husband Hans. Her great grandfather was a member of the Beauty-Association of
Woltersdorf near Berlin.
Sibylles art education started at the age of eight with drawing lessons from the
countryside painter Wohlicke in Berlin. Later she was educated as a dressmaker, making
costumes for the theatre, designing and creating extraordinary and exclusive wardrobes.
In 1985
Sibylle hand sculpted her first doll. Three years later, her first portrait doll was born.
Sibylle can certainly take extreme pride in the work of her portrait children. The
likeness to a photograph is breathtaking. Collectors cannot get over how accurate Sibylle
is by using a few good photographs of the child and never actually seeing them in person.
She thoroughly enjoys sculpting her one of a kind babies, each to perfection. The babies
are sculpted in fimo and measure approximately 20 inches in length. The bodies are cloth
and are nicely weighted to about 6 pounds. She uses soft mohair that is baked in to the
scalp or on an almost invisible mesh. Most babies have fully sculpted arms and legs for
fun in re-dressing and some have tummy plates too. The eyes are crystal glass. The babies
are very nicely dressed, many having knitted hats or sweaters. Each comes with a
certificate of authenticity and always a toy to love.
Sibylle has been included in many books, newspapers, magazine publications and television.
She has been registered since 2000 in the European Whos Who. It is always a pleasure
working with Sibylle and her husband Hans.
